Indian Government Blocks 245 Web Pages Amid North Eastern Community Exodus

The Indian government has blocked 245 web pages containing inflammatory content following the exodus of people from the North Eastern ethnic community in cities like Bangalore and Pune. Citing involvement from Pakistan, the government has directed national and international social networking sites to disable hateful content targeting this community.

Orders were issued to block numerous web pages and collect user details of those responsible for uploading the content. The government emphasized the need for quicker action from social networking sites and has already imposed a 15-day ban on bulk SMS and MMS to prevent further disturbances.
